I totally agree Harry. Think you Jeff for telling us about Healthcare Travelbook. I have a lot to say about my experience in South Florida specifically Boynton Beach. I wouldn’t want others to go through what I went through. So think you very much for this. Will def. check out.

I wish there were a place to discuss assignments. I have been fortunate in that my assignments have all been nice, but I usually get to a city early and scout out the hospitals. There always comes a point where I walk into a section of the hospital that was not included in the brochures, and think “Oh my god! What have I done?” It would be great to have a source that said “Stay away from this hospital, they suck!” or “Here’s the pro’s and con’s”

Hi Scheila,

Something must be in the water. This is the third time in a week I have heard about the shortage of Psych travel jobs. Historically I think this has always been a tough specialty to find a travel job in, so I don’t know how much help I can be other than to encourage you to just keep checking job boards and with your travel nursing companies to see what is open. Try to be open minded about where you are willing to go and that should help too. Good luck.

I am thinking about doing travel nursing and I have never done this before. I wanted to know what companies are good from bad ones. I would like to continue my education since I have 24 credits to go to earn my BSN. I work in the OR and live in Pa.

The travel market for warmer states like AZ and in FL have had low census issues. With unemployment and hiring freezes and the economy- traveling may have to wait till April 2009- review companies and you can see our ranking on http://www.travelnursingcentral.com/. For an update our company covers the state of IN very well South Bend and Annaopolis as well as others. The market for IN has been so depressed I have seen a decrease in orders since Nov. I wish I could say Holly we have opening but that would not be honest. I do beleive as of March we will see more IN. In the mean time we will market the area and see what we can do to provide more positions. I have seen perm but no travel. Warmly Kim Lawrence

Just looking for some guidance concerning the travel nursing world. My husband and I want to get out of the cold and are looking for a warmer place to live but can’t decide where. I thought that travel nursing would help us to decide where we might want to end up. Any advice is welcome.

I agree. There are plenty of forums and sites out there where you can communicate with other travel nurses. We also offer a blog with advice from travel nurses on our site. Most of our blogs focus about finding travel nurse jobs but there is information there on current events in travel nursing as well. Feel free to take a look.

I am in search of a travel contract in the Indianapolis area. I have called or emailed about 15 travel companies all which have NO contracts open in Indianapolis but decide to not share that information until I have jump through many hoops. Does any know of any person working in Indianapolis area with a current contract? And if so do you know that travel company name? I am starting to feel there is no light at the end of the tunnel!
